Privacy Policy
Explains what information Meerkat collects, why it is used, and how long it may be retained.

This document is a public policy draft for Meerkat Bot, the docs site, and the analytics dashboard. It will be updated on this page whenever the operating policy changes.
1. Information We Collect
Meerkat processes the minimum amount of information needed to record Discord server activity and provide analytics features.
- Discord identifiers such as server IDs, user IDs, channel IDs, and role IDs
- Server configuration data such as locale, log channel, welcome message settings, and forbidden word settings
- Activity data such as voice join and leave times, session length, and participation metrics
- Web service data such as login sessions, viewed server dashboards, and basic access logs
- Inquiry data voluntarily submitted by users through email or contact channels
2. Why We Use Information
- To provide core features such as voice activity time, rankings, onboarding metrics, and participation balance
- To store server-specific settings and deliver localized responses
- To detect abuse, debug issues, and respond to operational incidents
- To respond to inquiries, publish updates, and improve the service
3. Retention
Data is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for operating the service and its features. When it is no longer needed, it may be deleted or de-identified.
- Server configuration data may be retained while the related feature remains active
- Voice session and analytics data may be retained to support ongoing reporting features
- Inquiry records may be retained for a reasonable period after handling the request
- Users may request deletion through available product flows such as `!forgetme` where supported
4. Sharing and Processors
Meerkat does not sell user data. Infrastructure, hosting, logging, and authentication providers may process data only as needed to operate the service.
Information may be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, security, or service integrity.
5. User Rights
- Users may contact the operator regarding how their data is processed
- Where applicable, users may request correction, deletion, or restriction of processing
- Server administrators and end users may submit such requests through commands or contact channels
6. Security Measures
- Access controls with least-privilege principles
- Operational separation and secret management
- Monitoring for abnormal access and error conditions
- Data minimization and deletion workflows where appropriate
7. External Services and Links
Meerkat-related services may be provided across separate domains such as https://meerkathq.com and https://gui.meerkathq.com.
When you move to third-party services such as Discord or GitHub, their own terms and privacy policies may also apply.
